I highly recommend Kendra and wouldn’t give birth again without her there!!!
Kendra is an amazing doula and an incredible person all-around. She came to us highly recommended, and we are so happy we were able to work with her during the birth of our child. She is kind, caring, knowledgeable, funny, and constantly looking for ways to help make the birth experience better for you. I had a lot of fears going into the birth and she put in extra work to help coach me through my concerns before labor even started. She brought a calm, caring energy to the labor room. I loved her candles, aromatherapy, and all the strategies she had on hand for managing pain and anxiety. We are so glad she was part of our birth experience!
My new family was so fortunate to have Kendra Lund of Bellis Birth Services to help us through the adventure that was our first childbirth. I honestly do not know how either my boyfriend or I would have made it without her care or compassion through what would become a very long and challenging delivery. Kendra helped us prepare a birth plan long before our hospital visit which proved very important as the delivery unfolded. We wanted to adhere to a natural birth plan and were so grateful for Kendra’s knowledge and expertise through what would become hours of contractions. Her tips and tricks definitely kept my boyfriend and I sane and as comfortable as could be expected. As the hours ticked away, she knew just the right times to step in and give my boyfriend some well needed breaks while calmly encouraging me through each contraction. After twelve hours, my body exhausted and voice cracking, Kendra soothed me into a lull after a particularly strong contraction and asked if I remembered the “safe word” I had decided on at the birth plan for when I was truly ready to take the relief of an epidural. I called out “chocolate milk” and she was off to retrieve the anesthesiologist. Finally able to rest, Kendra stayed with me and updated my boyfriend when he got back from dinner of where we were at by then. When i awoke from a nap it was time to push and the team of my boyfriend, mother and Kendra were there to help me through three hours of hard-pushing labor until the doctor finally broke it to us that a combination of my anatomy and baby’s position would make a C-section necessary. This was heartbreaking as it was completely against our plan but Kendra’s caring and knowledgeable words really helped me come to terms with what was necessary for a healthy delivery. Once everything was prepped and ready, baby Charlotte was born in a whirlwind fifteen minutes. Baby and Daddy were back in the room and I was stitched up and brought back in. I was happy to see Kendra there waiting, ready to congratulate me and make sure I was set for my first night as a mother before finally, after 18 hours of almost unending care, she returned to her own family. Kendra was not done yet though, as she kept in touch and also checked in with us numerous times in the days after Charlotte was born. She even wrote up a detailed timeline of the events, including the nurses who assisted us, as things were quite a blur. I cannot stress enough just how incredible of an experience having a doula like Kendra was for my first pregnancy. I highly recommend her to any expectant mother and will definitely keep in touch with any future family planning we do.
