Built to Birth MN
Minneapolis & surrounding communities
By nature, I'm a helper. For the past six years I have coached cheerleading and have loved encouraging my athletes and watching them grow. After becoming a mom in 2015, I realized a new passion: birth. Women (and birthing persons who do not identify as women) are built for birth, and I want to help them gain a birth experience that is empowering and positive. I love trusting what our bodies are capable of and seeing the beautiful life we can create. I am also enamored with ASL, and the Montessori Method regarding parenting and children.
I believe women are built to birth. Our bodies can create, nurture, grow, and deliver miracles. Our birth experiences should emulate that. As your birth doula, I work for you. My purpose is to ensure that your values and wishes are upheld in your birth experience with grace and respect. I will help provide you with information to make educated decisions, work through your fears and worries, and support you on your birth goals. Birth is an intimate, vulnerable time and I will work compassionately to make sure your experience is a positive, empowering adventure.

Kolleen is Amazing!
We loved working with Kolleen! She was knowledgable, kind, detailed, supportive, encouraging, dependable and I don’t know how we could have done this without her. Leading up to labor we met with her a few times and she helped answer any questions we had about childbirth. She reviewed good positions to help manage pain during labor and even had some great tips on how to make the last weeks of pregnancy more comfortable. On the big day, she was our hero. Helping my husband give me counter pressure for my back pain, keeping us both calm when we were freaking out a little, giving me constant encouragement, helping us stay flexible with our birth plan, documenting the day so we could have a memory of it and taking photos for us once our little one was born. I honestly don’t know how anyone has a baby without a doula and Kolleen is fantastic at what she does.
As a mother of 3 children prior I had no experience with a doula. I was interested to find out what one was with my 4th and final baby. Kolleen was such a caring person and to have her by my side was a wonderful experience that only made me wish I knew what a doula was with my first 3 babies. As someone who had less than perfect birthings I knew I would be in great hands for the last. She not only met my expectations but exceeded them greatly with knowing what I wanted, keeping me strong and calm, and having my wants always come first. Even once sweet Penelope was out and trouble started she was there. I had tremendous bleeding and emergency surgery. She stayed to comfort my worried husband and family while I was gone and was there for me when I came back in pain. I would highly recommend her services even to those who have already had children and might not think they need the extra support.
