I am a registered nurse, specializing in Labor & Delivery since 2013. I have worked as a travel nurse in different states, which has allowed me to learn a variety of useful methods and introduce them where beneficial to my birthing moms. It has been my pleasure to work with families of diverse backgrounds, helping them welcome their new baby into the world and fulfill their best possible pregnancy & birth experience. I enjoy working with moms who labor with or without epidurals assisting them with massage, positioning, and breathing techniques to achieve a calming labor experience. I also have experience in water birth and cesarean deliveries.
I completed my training and certification as a birth doula through both the DONA International and Stillbirthday (bereavement) programs. I have also obtained certification as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) to assist women in their breastfeeding goals. I have received training as an Evidence Based Birth Instructor through Evidence Based Birth. Additionally, I have completed training to become a fertility and pregnancy and infant loss (PAIL) advocate. As a registered nurse I hold certifications in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Basic Life Support (BLS), Neonatal Rescusitation Program (NRP), AWOHNN Fetal Monitoring (Intermediate & Advanced), and Safe Sleep.
My goal is to help educate mothers and families to be as prepared as possible for the childbirth experience and help them to adjust thereafter. I offer hands on support, as well as help women understand each step of the labor/birth process so she may better voice her desires to her provider (MD/CNM). I am very open and willing to answer mom/family questions and address any expressed concerns. Sharing the birthing process and miracle of life is my passion. I know that the birthing process can be very overwhelming and my focus is to help diminish any sense of fear and replace it with knowledge and empowerment. I promise to hold your hand every step of the way so #Let'sHaveABaby!
Labored With Love: Let’s Have A Baby! was created to educate pregnant women and their families giving them the power to take control over their pregnancy childbirth experience. When a woman finds out she is expecting she can be flooded with overwhelming thoughts and emotions. Labored With Love can help you sort through those thoughts, focusing on what is most important to you and walk you through your pregnancy. Knowing what to expect throughout pregnancy and birth as well as knowing how to facilitate open discussion with your health care provider, makes a world of difference in one’s overall experience and satisfaction of pregnancy and birth. Just as pregnant mothers may be unsure of what to expect, the families of these mothers may also find themselves unsure of their own roles. Labored With Love will help families adjust and learn ways in which they can engage and effectively support their mommy-to-be. Through the use of doula services, it is our desire to help unify the family unit empowering them with knowledge and resources to make their own decisions and move forward confident in their abilities.

Best decision ever!
Lydia is such a great doula! She has a true heart for this work and it shows in her actions. Her being a labor and delivery nurse plus a lactation consultant show she takes learning serious. I would recommend her services to anyone
Best doula ever
I have been able to witness Lydia’s work with pregnant and laboring moms for years as her coworker in labor&delivery/postpartum . I was present when Lydia was a doula for a friend and was amazed at her dedication to her and her partner throughout her labor. I have seen her in action assisting and educating mothers and their families during their labor and delivery and postpartum experiences. Lydia has excellent bedside manners and is extremely informative and educated on recent Evidence Based Practices related to prenatal care, laboring techniques, delivery process, postpartum care, and breastfeeding. Whether you plan on going completely natural (no pain medication or epidural) or not, having a doula like Lydia during your pregnancy, labor and delivery and beyond, will help ease any uncertainties and answer all questions regarding your specific laboring needs. I highly recommend Lydia! I am currently pregnant due in October and she has been a big help to me already in choosing a provider and planning for my birth. I’m excited to have her by my side so early in my pregnancy. I honestly can’t think of anyone better than her to help me get through my labor. Like I mentioned earlier, her experience as an L&D RN alone will help tremendously on top of all of the other education and certifications she has. Having Lydia as my doula helps me to feel confident and excited about my labor experience. Lydia is hands down the best!
Lydia was beyond amazing!
Lydia was beyond amazing! She was very helpful from the moment I chose her as my doula at 4 months pregnant in October 2017. I was busy going to school and working full time, and she made sure to check on me especially when I was super busy. Lydia was available to answer ALL my questions any time of day. I went from having 0 questions to millions a week. She was and still is very patient with me and always remained calm when I would stress or freak out. I was able to work with her and create a birth vision for me and my baby, while working with her I became more comfortable if my vision did not go as planned. Lydia attended doctors appointments with me and would help me come up with a list of thorough questions to ask. She advised me what to look for in a great and not so great OB/GYN. When asking questions I was able to feel comfortable with my choice of doctor. When it came time for labor Lydia exceeded all my expectations!!!! She cleared up myths and truths about labor. Lydia met me at the hospital and from then on we started to implemented my birth vision. I am grateful for her also being a labor and delivery nurse. I listened and communicated with her more than my real nurses because I trusted her 100%. During labor she reminded me to take care of myself and make sure I rested, I was so anxious and excited that I was wide awake. Having her there eased my mind because she was able to help break down all the medical terms. While in labor she pushed me past my level of comfort, made me change positions and do things to help my labor progress. I was stubborn but I did what she asked because I knew she was going to help me get my baby. I never realized without a doula present the doctors and nurses are rarely in the room and if you don’t have anyone knowledgeable you are stuck laboring by yourself. Lydia has also helped me postpartum especially with breastfeeding, even when it seemed like the hardest thing to do but she would not let me give up I would and have recommended Lydia to several pregnant women. I would definitely choose her for my future pregnancies!
