On our initial phonecall, I felt a connection with Katie. With an anterior placenta, I wanted an experienced doula who could utilize diff techniques if babe had trouble finding her way out. Katie & her apprentice held a fear release ceremony for me that was extremely helpful in prepping for our second homebirth & I appreciated that she anchored my spirituality into the ceremony. About halfway through labor, I reached out to her. I explained my surges were staying at 10 mins apart & sometimes longer. I thought I might be having a mental block and asked her what to do. She said before addressing the potential mental block, to try a few rounds of the Miles Circuit. Worked like a CHARM! For the 3rd stage of the circuit, movement, I was going to take a walk but she suggested I do rapid hip swirls on my birth ball instead and that really sped things up!! She arrived shortly before baby girl came earthside (it was my choice to have everyone wait to come over til just before) and she helped me into the birthing pool. I felt very safe & cared for as she guided me. After baby girl was born she intuitively brought me soup that’d been simmering on the stove and held the plate and bowl close for me to take sips and held them steadily so that baby girl who was nursing underneath didn’t get any drops or crumbs on her 🙂 I appreciated her intuition & experience throughout our journey together. I did have her encapsulate my placenta & I planned on utilizing the capsules but they arrived on day 15 post partum and by that time, every time I took them, I’d have dark thoughts so I abstained after only a few doses. Could be just my luck of the draw or possibly because I’d already hit rock bottom by the time I got them so they were less effective. I was on a birth high for a solid week but by the end of week 2 I was at the lowest low of my life. I didn’t receive the tincture either but I plan on making my own by opening the capsules. I’m still very grateful to have had my placenta encapsulated even though I couldn’t use the caps as I’d orignally hoped. Without a doubt I am very grateful to have worked with Katie & Erin. The fear release ceremony & encouragment to do the Miles Circuit were both intrical bits that helped me feel empowered to achieve the perfect birth of my dreams. Can’t get much better than that! 🙂

My birth was long and didn’t end the way I wanted it to, but it would have been so much worse if Katie wasn’t there. She was there the whole time. Convincing me to get up and walk when I just wanted to curl up. She was great with the rest of my birth team and everyone agreed she was an important part of the whole thing. I highly recommend her service to any expecting mother.
