Your Birth Haven
Reading, PA and Surrounding Areas
Hello! I'm Jodie Whitcombe. I am a lover of adventure, foster care advocate, and doula. I spend most of my time at my home in Reading, Pennsylvania with my littles and my parter-in-chaos. Company, kombucha and bubble baths make me smile. Going on walks, learning new things, and spending time with friends keeps me sane through this fun and messy stage of life with my littles.
I attended Misericorida University and achieved an associates. Like many young adults I spent my college years switching majors and trying to find my passion. It wasn’t until I gave birth to my first child that it clicked inside me: I needed to work with mommas and babies! I have spent the last eight years growing, birthing, and mothering my children. Each of their pregnancies, labors, and births were different. Some experiences were more challenging than others, but I will always treasure each birth story.
I have spent my spare time in motherhood reading blogs and books about pregnancy and birth, listening to podcasts, and talking about birth with anyone who will share their experiences. I enjoying training with Birth Arts International and have now earned my certificate as a birth doula. I strive to be always learning and growing as a mother and doula. Check out my website at: YourBirthHaven.com for more information.
As a doula certified with Birth Arts International I put my heart into empowering women in Berks county, Pennsylvania and the surrounding areas. My goal is to help create a “safe haven” for each expectant mother during her labor; a place where her wishes and hopes will be heard and respected. I am a doula because birth is an everyday miracle. Society sometimes views birth more like a procedure or an event to be feared. But I know it is more than that. Birth will be miraculous to a woman in labor when she feels safe and supported. I am a doula because all women in labor deserve to feel this way. I am a doula in hopes that someday each woman who gives birth can know her body has been part of a beautiful miracle. I am a doula so I can make positive changes in the birth world one momma at a time.
